The footballing genius and legend died in hospital at the age of 59.
He passed away in intensive care at the Cromwell Hospital in London on Friday 25th November 2005
following "a long and very valiant fight". He had been in hospital since the 1st October having
developed a lung infection.
George Best is probably one of the most well known footballers of all time. He made his debut for
Manchester United back in 1963 and was named Footballer of the Year in 1968.
He will be sadly missed by his father, son, sisters and brother plus friends and football fans
around the world.
